I have two passions that keep following me in life. One of them is reading, and the other one is knitting. I am sure this is not a revelation for you, if you read my blog from time to time. However, today I am going to combine the two with this icon, Yarn Along.

I am in Hungary for a few more weeks. I just finished reading Doris Lessing's book, The fifth child in Hungarian. I did not know much about her, except that she won the Nobel Price some time ago. So when I happened to see this book in the library, I took it out.
I am not into her style. However I need to say, that writing about emotionally taxing things in such an ease is amazing. While reading it, it almost lets you slide over the big problem/challenge.
I have promised friends here to knit them stuff. I am almost done with a teapot cozy, a hat, and have to make a fingerless mitten. Having promised all these things, I could not contain myself and started a lace stole.

Somehow I have to knit lace among other things. The pattern has been on a Hungarian (knitting store's) website for a while now, but I kind of got stuck with triangle shawls. The step by step tutorial with pictures and the graph will make it self explanatory even if you do not speak Hungarian.

Meg par hetig itt vagyok Magyarorszagon, igy a konyvtarbol magyarul hoztam ki Doris Lessing: Az otodik gyerek cimu konyvet. Megint a veletlen vezerelt ehhez a konyvhoz, meg az, hogy tudtam, hogy nyert Nobel dijat, de meg nem olvastam tole semmit sem.
Hat nem mondhatnam hogy megfogott a stilusa. Ugyanakkor nagyon erdekes, hogy hogy tud valaki ilyen lazan irni egy rettenetes problemarol/kihivasrol. Olyannyira laza, hogy majdnem nem veszi eszre az ember, hogy amirol ir annak igazan nagy a sulya.

Sok ismerosnek beigertem itt koteseket, teaskanna boritot, ujjatlan kesztyut, egy sapeszt, de valahogy nem teljes az elet, ha az ember lanya nem kot valami csipkeset. Igy nekialltam egy regen lekozolt mintanak Ercsutol, ami nagyon tetszett mar anno, csak valahogy leragadtam a haromszog alaku kendoknel.

I have finished the swallowtail, and it came out gorgeous.
Befejeztem a  fecskefarkut, es nagyon szep lett.

I have started a lacy sweater for my friend's daughter. I thought they would look cute together on her big day. I don't think she reads the blog, alas the confession. But since I am in Europe I don't think that the little sweater will get there in time :(
A baratnom kislanyanak elkezdtem egy gyerkoc kis csipkes pulcsit, tul,keppen a kendo melle gondoltam, de szerintem nem lesz kesz a nagy napig :(

I heard a great interview with Judi Picoult, and realized that I have never read her. To remedy this I took out from the library Vanishing acts and stated it a few days ago. The only thing that annoys me is the font they decided to use. Do you ever get the feeling, that you can't continue, because the font is so annoying?
Nemregen hallottam egy szuper jo interjut Judi Picout-al, es rajottem, hogy meg soha nem olvastam. Pedig aki olvasta, az alig varja a kovetkezo konyvet. A konyvtarban epp benn volt az Elrabolt az apam, es hat most azzal kezdem. Egy valami idegesit, de annyira, hogy majdnem abbahagytam a konyvet, hogy a betutipust utalom! volt mar ilyen nalatok, hogy ezert visszaraktatok egy konyvet a polcra?

I have finished the Swallowtail shawl. This is a gift for my friend. As far as I know she loves the color. I love the yarn. I think it came out gorgeous. I might have to knit one for myself as well. 
Befejeztem a fecskefarku kendot. Nagyon szep lett. Szeretem nagyon ezt a fonalat. Ez ajandek lesz, es azt hiszem magamnak is kothetnek egyet, mert igen tetszik.

 I have started a hat for my godson. This is a trial knit, he tried it on yestereday, and it fits nice. Now I can start to reknit the hat with the yarn hold double. He is into robots so this is going to be a nice warm hat for him.
Ez a sapesz a keresztfiamnak keszul. Tegnap mar fel is probalta, es jo a meret. Ugy dontottem, hogy ket szallal azert melegebb lenne, igy ujra kezdem inkabb.

I started to listen to Swamplandia, and not into it. I am more than half way, but I wonder if the experience would have been different if I were to read it? This was the unofficial winner of this year's Pulitzer prize in literature.
Elkezdtem hangoskonykent a Swamplandiat hallgatni. Nem igen tetszik, pedig o volt a nagy eselyese a Pulitzer dijank 2012-ben. Mar tobb mint a felenel tartok, es azon filozom, hogy nem lett-e volna jobb/mas elmeny ha olvasom?

IVF - lombikbebi

Friday I went for my first visit in my second IVF cycle with my doctor at the Kaali Institute at Pecs. He checked if I have developed any cysts, which I did not and here we are on my second round of IVF.
I started Gonapeptyl injections the same day and Menopur the next. Today is Sunday, and I am fine. I had a little bit of a headache yesterday, but I had this in my last cycle as well. I usually vision a number for myself, and this time around it is the lucky number 3. So I am hoping for 3 eggs. I am going for a checkup on Thursday.

My only regret is, that my husband can't be here, because we do everything together. However his vacation days were used up in the previous cycle.... So I try to keep busy, I have more than one knitting project on my needles, visit friends stay with family and go to the gym.This past week I was going for Pilates 4 days a week. I loved every minute of it. I am hoping to do this for one more week. I am happy and positive.

In the previous IVF cycle I had one egg, and everything went fine, on the fourth day they emailed us, that the embryo is viable and they are going to do the implantation. Unfortunately the embryo did not implant.so this is the reason why I am doing my second round of hormone treatments.

Penteken mentem eloszor orvoshoz a masodik lombikbebi program kapcsan a Kaali Intezetbe Pecen. Meg mielott elkezdodne a hormon kezeles, azt ellenorizni kell, hogy van-e cisztam. Mondjuk pont ezert fogamzasgatolot is kellett szednem, de minden rendeben van, nincs cisztam. Aznap elkezdtem a gonapeptyl injekciozast, es tegnap, azaz szombaton meg jott hozza a mar ismert Menopur. Annyi mellekhatasa van ezeknek az injekcioknak, hogy tegnap fajt a fejem egy picit, de ma mar semmit sem erzek.
Minden ciklusban elkepzelek egy varazslatos szamot, ami segit abban, hogy annyi petem legyen. Ebben a ciklusban a 3-ra esett a valasztasom. Csutortokon megyek az orvoshoz, es akkor mar remelhetoleg tobbet tudok.
Sajnos a ferjem nincs itt velem, mert a multkori ciklus alatt felhasznalta az osszes szabijat. De probalom jol kitolteni az eletemet, tobb kotos projektem is van egyszerre, talalkozok regi baratokkal, csaladdal, es elkezdtem pilatesre jarni. Ez azert nagy dolog, mert nem vagyok egy sportolos alkat. Nagyon jol esik, es hianyzik is most hogy a hetvegen igy kimaradt. Mult heten negyszer voltam, es a kov. heten is ugyanigy szeretnem folytatni. Jol hat ram, boldog es pozitiv vagyok.
A multkori ciklusomban, juniusban, egy petem volt, ami megtermekenyult, es "vissza is kerult hozzam", de nem agyazodott be. Hat ezert van az hogy most nekifutunk ujra a masodik kornek.

I love flea markets. Since I arrived to Hungary for the second time, I have been to the flea market twice. Oh and I am definitely going back next Sunday.
Imadom a vasarokat. Miota visszajottem, mar ketszer voltam a vasarban. Es persze a jovo heten is megyek.

I am interested in knitting, so I think learning how to spin would be a logical step, right? So I am having my eyes open for a spinning wheel.
And today I have found two, (actually my Mom spotted them). They were both Hungarian, one from an ethnic German village (the picture above and below...you can tell from the blue coloring) and the other one was from the county of Somogy. They both miss parts.
Amiota komolyabban erdekel a kotes, valahogy termeszetes volt, hogy a fonal fonas is szoba jojjon. Igy amikor a vasarban vagyok mindig rokkat keresek. Ma kettot is talaltam, azaz inkabb az anyu... es erdekes volt, mert eleg hasonloak voltak. Mindketto magyar rokka volt, az egyik egy svab falubol, a masik meg Somogy megyebol. Mindkettorol hianyoztak kellekek.

Aside from the spinning wheel, I have a whole wish list. Zsolnay ceramics, Hungarian peasant clothes, old Hungarian cookbooks, and everything that has to do with knitting or crochet.
A rokka mellett persze meg van mas is, amiert faj a szivem, van listam, mintha gyerek lennek karacsonykor. Szeretnek regi Zsolnayt, eredeti nepi viseletet, regi magyar szakacskonyvet es persze mindent ami a kotessel es a horgolassal kapcsolatos.

So this time I scored a beautiful Zsolnay coffee pot, without the lid, but I would use it for a vase anyhow. Double the pleasure, since I spotted this one in May and was hesitant about it. Since than he came down on the price, and it was mine. I have also seen really original and nice Zsolnay that I had to leave there :( Of course bargaining is a must. Those I need to think over. 

Most egy olyan Zsolnay kaveskannat hoztam haza, amit mar Majusban kineztem magamnak. Eddig vart ram, sot a pasi vett is le az arabol, mert nem vittek. Hianyzik a fedele, de nem is baj, mert nalam vaza lesz tuttira.
Lattam meg ket olyan Zsolnayt is amit azert meg szivesen haza hoztam volan, de most csak a kepeket mutatom, ha az a rendeltetesuk, hogy az enyem legyen, megvar. Arban realisak, persze alkudni azt mindenkeppen kell.

I met a couple during my flea market visits who bring Hungarian authentic peasant/folk clothes with them. I remember as I was growing up flea markets had a much wider variety of  folk clothes. As they are worn less and less today,  it is harder to spot them for sale. The fabric is thick linen with lace or embroidery decorating it. I love their full skirts, nightgowns, which you can wear as a summer dress. In May I spotted a pair of pants, that I suspect they wore under the skirt. The waist comes together with a waist string. Pretty funky. I did not buy it at time, and I think someone else snatched it, but they brought another pair for me today, that I tried on. Well you be the judge... I did not get it. However, they showed me a silk top with a hand embroidered design, that was amazing. I am the proud owner of that more modern piece.
Megismerkedtem egy hazasparral, akik szep magyar nepviseleti ruhakat hoznak a vasarba. Majusban volt egy alsonadragjuk (?), sarga himzessel a szaranal, amibe bele szerettem. De nem vettem meg. Es ugy tunik, hogy az mar masnak is megtetszett, mert nem talaljak azota. De hoznak mindig nekem helyette mast. Peldaul ma mutattak egy masik gatyat, amit fel is huztam, de nem vettem meg, mert furin nezett ki. Viszont egy inget meg elhoztam, mert olyan szepen volt kezzel himezve. Ez egy modernebb darab, de megis a kezimunka az gyonyoru.

You see only a handful of (older) women who sell their handmade items. This time I got a small crocheted hat for my friend's daughter, Cosette.
A vasarban nem sok kezzel kotott vagy horgolt cuccot latok. Akik arulnak azok idosebbek, fiatal sehol. Vettem egy kis horgolt sapeszt a baratnom kislanyanak.

I have seen a scarf as well, but it was too itchy to buy it. I loved the simple yet elegant pattern so much, that I would like to recreate the pattern.

Lattam egy nagyon szep kotott salat egy turiban, de annyira bokott, hogy nem tudtam megvenni. Ezt a mintat biztosan megkotom, mert olyan szep volt a nemes egyszerusegeben.

Third Annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week, Photography and Composition - Harmadik Evi Kotes es Horgolas Hete a Blogokon, Fenykep es Kompozicio

This is week is the 3rd Annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week. So as you know I don't need a special week to write about knitting or crocheting... However this week we will all write about craft related creativity each day, and that I find fascinating. We often see the finished products, but how do we really get there?
Today is the second day of discussing yarn or craft related ideas in our life.  If you plug into google 3KCBWDAY2 you will find out what other crafty bloggers think about today's topic.
The topics for today is photography. This can relate to your yarn or  just a clever composition related to your craft. The main emphasis is on imagination.
I am going to share with you a fridge magnet that I received almost 10 years ago as a gift.... and still cherish it a great deal. Even though you can see that one of the needles is missing an edge, (it must have broken as it fell down from the fridge) it is still special. Hard to see perhaps, but the whole thing is not wider than 2 inches. I am not aware where it was bought, but it was somewhere close to Morristown, NJ.

Annyit tudok rola, hogy Morristown (New Jersey allam) kornyeken vettek nekem anno.  Nagy becsben tartom meg ma is... (bar letort a tu egyik vege, amikor leesett a hutorol)

 I am showing pictures of a shawl blocking. This is Layered, which is 2 shawls in one. This was a test-knit, that I finished too late.I am bummed out about it, since I was so happy I could knit it.  I yet have to take proper pics of it and send it to Diane. She is very talented, check out her other designs as well!

As I knit I listen to The Help. I am almost done with "reading" the book. I am sad it is going to end!!! I still did not see the film... do you ever do this, that you want to read the book first, and then see the film adaptation?

Ket kepet rakok fel errol a kendorol. Layered a neve, mert ket kendo van osszefogva, es igy retegesen alkotnak egyet. Valahogy nagyon lemaradtam ezzel a tesztkotessel, pedig ugy orultem neki. Meg nem is szedtem le a tukrol, hogy az eseserol is csinalhassak par kepet, es elkuldhessem Diana-nak. Nezzetek meg mi mindent tervez, mert szerintem tehetseges es szepek a munkai!

Mikozben kotok, A Segitseg cimu konyvet hallgatom. Sajnalom, hogy mar majdnem a vege fele jarok, mert nem szeretnem hogy vege legyen. A filmet meg direkt nem neztem meg, mert elobb a konyvet akartam "kiolvasni". Ti is szoktatok ilyent csinalni, hogy elobb jon a konyv olvasasa, es utan a film, ha van rola film adaptacio?

As you might now I am the happiest when I am close to the beach. Even if it is a pebble beach.
Gondolom ismertek mar annyira, hogy ha a strandon kotok ki az maga a mennyoszag. Az sem baj ha kavics van a homok helyett.

And I love the approaching colors of autumn. So last weekend I was in pure bliss, as we went to see our neighbor at her summer house in Cutchogue, Long Island. Remember the day trip we made to Long Island in the beginning of the summer? Her summer house is along the way. The last pic here is her garden...
 Es nagyon szeretem az kezdodo osz szineit is. Igy ezen a hetvegen fantasztikus elemenyben volt reszem, amikor meghivott a szomszedunk a nyaralojaba. Cutchogue Long Islanden van a nyaraloja. Emlekeztek arra a bejegyzesemre, amikor elmentunk Long Islandre a nyar elejen, na arrafele van ez a nyaralo is. Az utolso kep itt az a kert...

 Of course I took my knitting with me. It is like a security blanket for me. And something amazing happened, I did not get sick while I was knitting in the car. I was really happy about that.
The weather was amazing, and if I would have known that it would be this warm, I would have brought my             bathing suit with me as well.
Persze vittem magammal a kotesemet is, ez mar olyan beidegzodott dolog, biztonsagot ad, hogy ott van velem. Ja es ez volt az elso alkalom, hogy nem lettem rosszul az autoban kotestol, ami szinten nagyon feldobott.
Nagyon szep ido volt, meg a furdoruhat is bedobhattam volna a kotes melle....

And to top it off I met a puppy on the beach, he just found a new toy for himself... and saw a swan family.

Es talalkoztam egy nagyon aranyos kiskutyaval, aki a legujabb kincsevel volt elfoglalva epp.... es napozo hattyu csaladdal a strandon.
