knitting - Shadow cable scarf + KnitPicks interchangeable knitting needles

I have started a new pattern called Shadow Cable scarf. It is an easy project and very pretty. I am  using Wool-Ease (80% acrylic, 20% wool).  I have three balls and after knitting the first one the scarf measures 8x15 inches. I think after using up all three balls this scarf will be the right length. This yarn is thick, aran weight. I use size 7 needles.
Elkezdtem egy ujabb salat, Csavaras arnyekkal a neve. Egyszeru es szep minta. A fonalam Wool-Ease, ami 80% muszal, 20% gyapju. Harom motringom van, az elso gomboc megkotese utan a sal mostani merete 20cm x 63cm, igy azt hiszem a harom gomboc pont jo meret lesz. Eleg vastag ez a fonal. 4.5-os tut hasznalok.

Now let me write a few thoughts about my KnitPicks needles. I  bought them in April, but just got around to using it. I bought two sizes 6 and 7, and two different cable lengths. This is a pretty cool idea that you can interchange your needle and cable. As I knit, I have noticed that the cable starts to unscrew from the needle. So I keep an eye on it, and screw it on at times. (I almost want to write the obvious, that if I do not do this, I might get screwed.... can you imagine the needle and cable coming apart, and all your stitches falling off ....) The needle is made of birch and is fantastic.
And let me say something else...
KnitPicks has a WONDERFUL customer service. I have noticed that one of the needles were a bit loose so it did not screw on the cable part tight. I called and explained them what is going on, and they mailed a new pair of needles. Not just one, but a pair. and they suggested that I use the loose one as a shawl pin or hairpin...
Hat akkor most hadd irjak az uj KnitPicks  kototumrol egy par sort. Ez az elso alkalom, hogy kotok vele, pedig mar aprilisban megvettem. Ket meretet vettem, 4 es 4.5-est, es ket kulonbozo zsinor hosszat, most a rovidebbel kotok. Az otlet oriasi, hogy lehet varialni a meretet es a damil hosszt. Viszont azt tapasztaltam, hogy allandoan ujra kell csavargatnom, mert valahogy el kezd kitekeredni, mikozben kotok. A kototu nyirfabol van es nagyon kellemes.
Ja es meg meg kell hogy jegyezzem, hogy az ugyfelszolgalat FANTASZTIKUS ennel a cegnel. Az egyik tu menete nagyob volt, es laza ezaltal, amikor csavartam a damillal ossze....de pikk-pakk kipostaztak egy ujabb szettet. Nem egy tut, hanem egy parost. Es azt ajanlottak hogy a masikat hasznaljam disznek, hajtunek vagy kendot osszefogni...

A new cupcake place opened nearby, called Cupcakes in Heels and we ventured out to try their cupcakes. I have to say I am not a big cupcake person. I know they are the IT thing in baking right now, and I see all these cupcake stores open all over in Manhattan as I walk the streets.
However these cupcakes were pretty delicious :)
My husband loves sweet things, however I have a lower tolerance on the sweetness scale.

Nem regen egy cupcake sutemenyes nyilt a kornyekunkon, Cupcake a Magassarkuban nevvel. Meg kell hogy jegyezzem, en nem vagyok nagyon oda ertuk. Itt most egy nagyon nagy orulet van, Manhattani koszalasaim soran  latom am, hogy nyilnak a cupcake uzletek sorra.
De amit most kostoltunk ebben az uj boltban, hat finom volt.
Azt hiszem nem olyan edes a maz.
A ferjem szereti a nagyon edes dolgokat, en kevesbe.

Having tried all six flavors, this is our vote:  
I liked the salty caramel one the best.
My husband liked the carrot cake and the peanut butter one.

A legfinomabb a sos karmellas volt szerintem.

knitting-Haruni shawl

I have finished my Haruni shawl. It seems that on average it takes me 3 months to finish a shawl. I am more interested now how many hours does it take, so I am going to start to count the actual hours.
Here is my first blog entry on Haruni.

Vegre befejeztem a Haruni kendot. Ugy tunik hogy harom honap alatt sikerult az elso ket kendom megkotni. Elhataroztam, hogy leirom az oraszamot amit belefektetek, mert az pontosabb lesz.
Itt talalhato az elso bejegyzesem Harunirol, amikor elkezdtem.

What I have learned from knitting this shawl?
I will use beads next time that are more visible. I thought that shiny beads would be too much but I was wrong, these matte beads hardly show. I have learned how to do the Crochet bind off, it is not hard but takes a lot of time.

Legkozelebb megiscsak a csillogo-villogo gyongyot fogom hasznalni. Meg is vettem, de tul flancosnak tunt. Most aztan a matt gyongy csak a blokkolason latszik. Most eloszor csinaltam a horgolasos lekotest, ami nem nehez, de milyen idoigenyes!

 
I have increased the pattern size a bit. On chart A I have repeated the pattern two more times. So the initial pattern has 12 leaves on each side, and mine has 14 leaves.
Egy kicsit nagyobb a merete a kendonek mint az eredeti mintaban. Az A minta sorban meg ketszer megismeteltem a mintat. Az eredeti kotes mintaban ugy van, hogy mindket oldalon 12 levelecske van, az enyemben meg 14.

I have learned that with lace knitting, I knit loose. I absolutely love this yarn. and of the two skeins I have a little bit left.

Rajottem hogy lazan kotok amikor  csipke kotesrol van szo. Nagyon szeretem ezt a fonalat. Ket gomboccal vettem, es alig maradt.

I am not sure if I am alone with this, but bowls kind of rule my life. And we did not have any that were not plastic. Ceramics is a completely different story. Finally we got some in IKEA, and use them more than once a day.
Nem tudom ti hogy vagytok ezzel, de az en eletembol nagyon hianyoztak ezek a kis talak. Volt itthon par muanyag, de a keramia az egeszen mas. Salata, leves, felvagott gyumolcs, mind olyan arvan nezett ki mas edenyben. Vegre az IKEA-ban vettunk parat, es hasznalom is oket, naponta tobbszor.

A simple cucumber salad with Persian cucumbers, red onion and olive oil+ red wine vinegar dressing.

 Lime juice from an ice cube tray. Two tablespoon's worth.
 Kis zold citrom leve jegkockatartobol. Ket evokanalnyi.

Froozen smootie, delicious and cooling on a hot summer day.
Fincsi vegeredmeny, husito es finom a nyari napokon.

And a very green salad, avocado, cucumber and kiwi. Half lime juice and olive oil.

knitting - starting Ginko shoulderette shawl

I just started a new shawl two days ago, even though I have not finished Haruni. I am at the point where I would start chart B, ( I have repeated chart A more than once, to have a bigger shawl) and beads. And now I am stalled there. I even got the beads....
Elkezdtem egy ujabb kendot tegnapelott, pedig meg nem fejeztem be a Haruni-t. Ott tartok, hogy most jon a B resz, ( az A reszt tobbszor ismeteltem, mert nagyobb kendot szeretnek) de  mivel szeretnek gyongyot bele, itt megragadtam. Pedig mar a a gyongyok is megvannak...

I have been thinking about how to use the stash of yarn I have, and decided to knit Ginko Shoulderette Shawl. This makes my husband happy, he is encouraging me to use up my stash. I am making changes in the size, I don't get the small size shawlettes, I need a shawl that I can wrap myself .... and feel cozy. The yarn is very pretty, it is called Vanna's Glamour. Even though I am not into metallics, this one I like.
Ferjem unszolasara (teljesen jogos) elkezdtem regi fonalaimat nezegetni, hogy mit is tudnek kihozni beloluk. Van egy kis sal a Ginko, ami nagyon tetszik, es elkeztem ezzel a fonallal. Vanna's Glamour a neve. Annyit modositok, hogy a sal nagyobb lesz, mert nem latom ertelmet az uttoro kendo nagysagu salaknak. Nem vagyok oda a csillogo-villogo dolgokert, de most ezzel a fonallal tetszik a kis csillam.

I have also used one of my groupon coupons, and got a beautiful orange malabrigo yarn from Knitty City. The color is called bergamota 94. The color did look brighter in the store, but it is still gorgeous. Here in the pic it looks more pinkish, which is misleading.
Tegnap elmentem a varosba, es a Knitty City fonalas boltba. Nemregen volt egy akciojuk az interneten  amibol vettem kettot, de tegnap csak az egyet hasznaltam. Egy araert ket gombolyagot vehettem. Nagyon szep a fonal szine, habar megjegyzem, hogy elenkebbnek tunt a boltban. Itt a kepeken inkabb rozsaszines az arnyalata, de inkabb sotet mely lazac szinnek tunik. A fonal malabrigo, sokan hasznaljak, en meg nem kotottem vele. A szine bergamota 94.

I yet have to come up with a pattern for the malabrigo yarn, most possibly it will be a shawl, maybe the book I picked up from the library will help me.

My husband is cooking - pasta with basil and cherry tomatoes

This dish is really a breeze on a hot summer day. And to top it off, the cherry tomatoes and the basil are from our garden. So simple, so delicious. We mix the cooked pasta with the olive oil, tomatoes and the basil and it cooks a little from the heat. Add some Parmesan cheese, and mix. When serving just sprinkle some more Parmesan on top, or if you are like me, a lot.
Next time with whole wheat pasta:)We are switching slowly, but we do have regular pasta in the house still.

Ez egy nagyon egyszeru kis ennivalo egy meleg napon. Es persze kulon orom, hogy a paradicsom es  a bazsalikom a kertbol van... Nagyon egyszeru es friss. a fott  tesztat osszekeverjuk az oliva olajjal, paradicsommal es bazsalikommal, ami enyhen megparolja. Es egy kis parmezan sajttal osszekeverjuk, majd talalaskor is szorunk ra egy kicsit. (vagy ha nagyon szeretitek, mint en, akkor kicsit tobbet :)
Legkozelebb teljes kiorlesu tesztaval lesz remelem, valtunk, de meg van itthon a hagyomanyos.
